"I had the pleasure of visiting Shera's class when she taught at PACE Center for Girls in Gainesville, Florida. Her opening activity was the "check in circle," where each student shared where they were spiritually, physically, and emotionally. She shared her “presence" and helped the girls who had difficulty. This activity is especially relevant for this population.
Shera was encouraging and helpful drawing out the creativity in each student, which was not an easy task. Shera is a roll model encouraging the girls to make the right decision which will affect them in the future. She is a talented artist and a competent teacher. Any class would be privileged to have her as their teacher. "
"This performer knows how to get into the headspace of the audience. They gave an enthralling performance from start to finish."
Shera Sherman has been a wonderful community partner with the UF / IFAS Extension Family Nutrition for the last few years. Her mission in providing a safe and educational after school space aligns well with the mission of our program. As weeks have gone by, I have seen an improvement in the students’ behavior and attitude. Shera has been easy to communicate, expresses her creative ideas and implemented new programs with the Family Nutrition Program at Salvation Army. These programs include nutrition education, cooking classes and hands on gardening. With her efforts, she and her students completely revamped a once abandoned garden space. She now is producing vegetables in the garden that now is sent to the Salvation Army food pantry. I feel truly blessed to have someone like Shera as a pillar in our community.
